Shea Butter

Our 100% Natural Shea Butter in unrefined and considered to be high in vitamin/mineral. It has a strong natural aroma that is usually lost in soap making. It is a creamy ivory color and is creamier in consistency at room temperature than most shea butters. Soluble in alcohol or oils, insoluble in water.

Benefits:

• Contains allantoin, vitamin A and E, and various cinnamic and unsaponifiable lipids (e.g. stearic and oleic acids).
• Potent moisturiser and emollient providing effective skin protection against environmental stress factors.
• Has anti-irritant and soothing properties and improves the appearance of aging skin.

Almond oil

Natural oil pressed from the seeds of the sweet almond tree, contains oleic acid, linoleic acid & other valuable fatty acids, rich in beta-sitosterol, squalene & vitamin E. Sweet almond oil is loaded with natural antioxidants, oleic acid, omega-9 fatty acids, linoleic acid. almond oil is obtained from the almond tree’s fruit (in dried form). Insoluble in water, hardly soluble in alcohol. Pale yellow liquid, nutty odour.

Olive oil

All Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil is thought to be good for skin care and soap. It is traditionally included within soap, cream, balm, body butter, herbal infusion and hair care formulations. This oil has not undergone any processing other than washing, decanting, and filtering. Use this Olive Oil to create Castile Soap and more! Extra virgin Olive Oil will also give you a whiter bar than pomace.

Coconut Oil

Natural whole coconut oil, not fractionated, obtained by expression from the kernels of the seeds of cocos nucifera. Off-white to yellow oily solid or liquid. All Natural. Pressed and Solvent Extracted. No trace of Hexane. Use coconut oil in many of your handmade cosmetics! Solid < 75°F, liquid > 75°F. Melting point: 75-80°F (24-27°C). Insoluble in water, soluble in oils.

Activated Charcoal Powder

This activated charcoal powder is highly absorptive as it has numerous small pores allowing it to adsorb chemical substances such as impurities and oil on the skin and hair. Activated charcoal is made by burning carbon-rich coconut shells at very high temperatures to create charcoal. The result is a black, odourless powder. The charcoal is then "activated" through a special steam process that creates holes in the charcoal particles, increasing surface area and available binding sites.

Lye

Lye is a crucial part of hot and cold process soap making. When combined with a fat and water, the magic of saponification occurs and soap is created. Using the correct type and amount of lye is correct. Sodium hydroxide or Caustic soda is used to convert fats and oils to soap. Sodium hydroxide is traditionally used to make harder soaps that dissolve less easily than those made using Potassium hydroxide. Despite both being called 'Lye' Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide are not interchangeable in soap recipes.
